New York City’s Garment Center is definitely part of the Urban Fabric.  Children and families can learn about the area that once produced the largest volume of women’s clothing, hats and shoes in the United States, in a special hands-on family day workshop at the Skyscraper Museum,on Sunday, October 6th. The Urban Fabric program is from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and includes activities to explore factory designs, original functions and production methods. Kids will get to be architects and builders of their own factories and organize the production of their own product. The program is held in conjunction with openhousenewyork, and suitable for ages 7 and up. Please RSVP to education@skyscraper.org to ensure space.  Cost is $5/family; members free.  The Skyscraper Museum is at 39 Battery Place.
