Hurricane Sandy parks clean-up, nyconthecheap.com,Join the effort to clean up the mess Hurricane Sandy left behind. Brooklyn Bridge Park needs volunteers to help clean up the mess left over from flood waters as much as three feet high. Work will take place near Main Street from 9am-12pm and on Pier 6 from 2-5pm. Wear water-resistant shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. The park does have supplies of  brooms, rakes, and gloves, but if you have your own, please bring them.  Just show up, or email  sward@brooklynbridgepark.org.  Good news from Brooklyn Bridge Park — the restored Jane’s Carousel is okay. Possible water damage to the machinery, but not to the horses.  Please note that other than the volunteer clean-up effort, the park remains closed to the public — as are all NYC parks.  Closed for your own safety.
