The annual Feast of San Gennaro takes over Little Italy and parts of Chinatown for ten days, Sept 13-23, for what is arguably New York City’s most famous and largest street fair.  More than 200 vendors include some of the neighborhood’s most famous restaurants serving up everything from sausage and peppers and pizza to zeppoles and gelato. What started 86 years ago as a one-day event to honor the Patron Saint of Naples The San Gennaro Festival now includes carnival games and rides and other kid-friendly activities, a world-famous cannoli-eating competition, and an ongoing schedule of free music performances that range from opera to Doo Wop.  What most of us call the San Gennaro Festival is centered on Mullberry Street, but spills over onto Grand and Mott.   Event website.
