Before it was Brooklyn, it was Breukelen. Celebrate the history of NYC’s largest borough at the Breukelen Country Fair, at the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum, one of the oldest homes in NYC. This old-fashioned, family-friendly fair is 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 22nd, with face painting and other activities for kids, composting workshops for adults by experts from the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, cider pressing, quilting workshops, entertainment, and more. That includes a puppet show by Super Sprowtz with puppets shaped like vegetables, and the PuppetMobile production of “Bessie’s Big Shot” about a talented cow.  Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children. Event website.
