Cut the cost of college by renting textbooks. Amazon now is renting traditional plain paper textbooks, in addition to the rental program it began last year for Kindle users. The service plan lets college students keep the books for 130 days, or one semester. Shipping is free for members of Amazon Student. There are several other textbook rental programs.  Here are some links –

  • Barnes & Noble — also lets you try eTextbook for Nook  free for seven-days before you buy.
  • Apple iBookstore — digital versions only, for iPad
  • Chegg.com — an online-only, textbook-only company
  • Half.com — an eBay company

Buying or renting, be sure to comparison shop for the best deal.
