Intrepid sleepovers nyconthecheapYou don’t have to join the US Navy to sleep over on an aircraft carrier.  New York City’s Intrepid Sea, Air + Space Museum is offering young adventurers the chance to experience 2012 Operation Slumber, which includes such activities as a scavenger hunt, a ride on the Intrepid’s XD Cosmic Coaster, a souvenir t-shirt, goodies, and perhaps most importantly — private time in the Space Shuttle Pavillion to meet the newest star of the Intrepid, the USS Enterprise, which opened to the public just last week. The next two sleepovers are Saturday, July 28th and Saturday, August 4th, so if you are interested, don’t waste time booking a spot, since these opportunities do sell out.  Cost is $120 per person, and the Intrepid recommends kids be 6-12 years old for this overnight experience. Click here for the full schedule of sleepover events through December 2012, and to purchase tickets.  There also are sleepover opportunities for kids at the American Museum of Natural History.  Click here for the recent NYCOTC posting with full information.
