Who will be Top Dog at The Great Hot Dog Cookoff in Brooklyn this weekend? It’s wieners galore, local microbrews to wash them down, plus other taste treats from local producers to sample. See and taste some of the most inventive versions of the hot dog on the planet, with creative end even extreme topping combinations for America’s favorite outdoor food. Watch and cheer 30 teams of New York City pro and amateur chefs competing to be 2012 Top Dog.  All the dogs for sampling are 100% organic, provided by Applegate Farms.  Sample brews from KelSo Beer Company, plus Steve’s Ice Cream, Kombucha Brooklyn, Grady’s Cold Brew Coffee and Bulldog Gin Doggystyle Lemonade. Music is by MC George Duran and DJ Rabbi Darkside.  The event is Saturday, July 21, and tickets are $22.50 to $32.50 for NYCOTC followers — that’s half off the full price of $45 to $65.  Click here for tickets, and eat up knowing that all proceeds go to the Food Bank for New York City. Pfizer Factory Yard, Event entrance is on Tompkins (650 Flushing Ave. Brooklyn).
