Get pickled, get crocked and get hopped with the top U.S. expert on fermentation, at a special seminar in Brooklyn. Join Just Food and Crock & Jar for presentation by fermentation revivalist and author Sandor Ellix Katz. Learn how to make your own kraut, pickles, beer, kombucha, kim che and more. The program celebrates the release of his new book The Art of Fermentation. Since publication of Wild Fermentation in 2003, Sandor Katz has taught hundreds of sold-out workshops across the country. This is a rare visit to New York City, and a rare chance to get your questions answered by the guru of fermentation. He’ll be signing books, of course, too. The event is at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29th, at 61 Local, 61 Bergen Street, near Smith Street, where fermentation is an everyday event, with not only beer, but also kombucha on tap. Registration is required; $1.99 fee to attend. Just Food is a non-profit organization that connects local communities with local farms.
