NYC daily dealsSomewhere in between throwing out coupons that come in the mail or with the Sunday newspaper, and the full-time job of extreme couponing to get groceries and paper towels for free, there’s a happy middle. Which is what Couponing for the Beginner: A Guide to Couponing for the Uninitiated is about. Author Jenny Dean has been couponing for more than 10 years, and this book answers the question,  “How did you do that?” when her total is $0.00 at checkout. This book covers coupon rules and policies, where to get coupons, how to organize them and how to maximize your savings, and how to get items for free. Dean also looks at refunds, rebates and money-back guarantees.  FREE is the operational word.  Sister site Living on the Cheap is giving away five free copies of Couponing for the Beginner: A Guide to Couponing for the Uninitiated (a $9.99 value). To enter, just leave a comment describing your favorite coupon score – either the most you’ve ever saved or the best deal you ever got. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, July 25 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Winners will be randomly drawn and notified by email, so be sure to include a valid email address.

  1. The best deal I ever got occured in February of 2010, when I went to Atlantic City from NYC for 1 cent each way on Greyhound. The deal was offered online only and was called Silver Streak. There were no restrictions for the return trip and I even exchanged to return to NYC later than I initially booked. In addition, I had accomodations at Resorts for $39.00 for two days in their Tower Suite. The booking included $20.00 in casino dollars. To top it off, I went for dinner at a restaurant located at Tropicana Hotel called Cuba Libre where they offered small dishes(tapas)ranging from 4 to 7 dollars from the hours from 4 to 7 PM. Phew!!

  2. Donna –

Please send this great deal experience to the Living on the Cheap website, which is hosting the contest. LOTC is a sister website to NYC on the Cheap, but NYCOTC is not determining the winner of these free couponing books.
