Dyn-O-Mite! That’s the phrase Jimmie “JJ” Walker made famous on Good Times, the hit TV show of the late 70s on CBS.  Meet Jimmie Walker, who played James “JJ” Evans on the series, at the Barnes & Noble on the UWS tonight, as he talks about his life and career and signs copies of his memoir, Dyn-O-Mite! Good Times was a breakthrough series for CBS, Walker, the late Esther Rolle, and for John Amos. I knew JJ before he was a star, when we both worked at the old WMCA Radio station, when it was the first all-talk call-in show in the world. He was a studio engineer, running the control room, and I was the on-air host of the morning show. JJ’s rubbery face, wall-to-wall smile and non-stop wisecracks made it less painful to be in a windowless room with microphones at 5 a.m. every day. Meet Jimmie “JJ” Walker at 7 p.m. tonight at the Barnes & Noble at 82nd St. and Broadway. I would be there, too,  if it weren’t for another commitment I can’t move.
