NYC on the CheapThe 36th Annual Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks spectacular is along the Hudson River again this year, with four fireworks barges evenly spaced in the river every few blocks between 23rd St. and 59th St. The fireworks can be seen from any spot with an unobstructed view of the sky above the Hudson River, including from the West Side Highway, which will be closed to cars for the annual extravaganza. There is no fireworks barge at the Statue of Liberty, as there has been in past years, so there’s no viewing site from Battery Park or Brooklyn Heights. Click here for the Macy’s website map of the  barge locations and access points. This year’s extravaganza features more than 40,000 fireworks synchronized to a 25-minute music score of old and new favorites, and live performances by Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney.
