Shakespeare’s birthday is Tuesday, April 23rd, and you can celebrate the Bard’s birthday by attending the third annual Shakespeare Sonnet Slam in Central Park, a FREE event in which both professional actors and talented amateurs take turns reading all 154 Shakespeare Sonnets.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways, starting at 1 p.m., at the Naumberg Bandshell, mid-park at around 72nd St., organized and presented by Willful Pictures. While the Shakespeare Sonnet Slam is free, a $5 donation is suggested to cover expenses.
Yea, yea, I know — How Do I Love Thee was written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, not by William Shakespeare. But it’s my own personal favorite sonnet written by anybody, male or female.
