More than 100 National Parks that usually charge admission fees are free this weekend, August 14 and 15. It is the third and last fee free weekend of 2010, so get out there and enjoy.
There are one dozen National Parks in New York City. Some of them are free all the time, and most of them are historic spots, and many are world famous and attract visitors from around the world, such as the Statue of Liberty.

- Castle Clinton National Monument
- Ellis Island National Monument
- Federal Hall National Memorial, where George Washington took the oath of office
- Gateway National Recreation Area, which is so big it is in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island
- General Grant National Memorial, also known as Grant’s Tomb
- Governors Island National Monument
- Hamilton Grange National Memorial, closed at the moment for renovation
- Lower East Side Tenement Museum National Historic Site
- National Parks of New York Harbor
- Statue of Liberty National Monument
- Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site
