This is a street fair with a French accent. Bastille Day celebrations commemorate the beginning of the French Revolution, which closely followed the American Revolution of July 4, 1776. Bastille Day in The Big Apple features French food, performances of French-style music, face painting for the kids, plus arts and crafts stalls with a French flair, plus stationery bike races designed around the world-famous Tour de France. It’s all happening on East 60th Street, between Fifth and Lexington Avenues, between noon and 6 p.m. Stop in at Alliance Francais at 22 East 60th for FREE wine and cheese tastings. A beer tasting is snot free, but costs $8. There also are chances to win round-trips to Paris and other prizes. Bonne chance!
