Soho Street Fair Supports NYC Charity

The 6th Annual Housing Works Open-Air Street Fair takes over Crosby Street between Houston and Prince in Soho on Saturday, June 5th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Find  thousands of $1 books, movies, records, and CDs. Plus food, beer, live music and more.  Best deal is the  $20 “all-you-can-stuff” bags of clothing and accessories from the Housing Works Warehouse, and much more from Housing Works SoHo Thrift Shop.

Housing Works is one of the most effective Big Apple charities, providing a wide variety of services to the poor and homeless in NYC struggling with AIDS and HIV.  The services include including health and legal services, job training and housing.  And their thrift shops — including the bookstore at 126 Crosby St., are among the best in the city.  Unlike other NYC street fairs, where vendors keep the profits of whatever they sell, all the money raised by the Housing Works Open-Air Street Fair supports the charity.  In 2009, the fair helped raise $45,000.
