Celebrate Caribbean Week NYC June 6-12

Caribbean Week in NY is a week-long festival of events, many of them free, June 6th to 12th.  The annual festival celebrates Caribbean food, culture, music, dance, and the Caribbean Disapora.  More than one dozen Caribbean nations support Caribbean Week, each one of them a wonderful and appealing vacation destination.

Two top chefs from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, one of my favorite Caribbean islands, will be giving free cooking demonstrations.  Chef John-Conrad Ste. Marthe, who has been featured in the New York Times,  is doing a free cooking demonstration at Macy’s Herald Square on Thursday, June 10, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Chef Bobo Bergstrom of The Edge Restaurant in Rodney Bay  will be featured at Bloomingdale’s, 59th Street & Lexington Avenue, on Saturday, June 12 from1 p.m.  to 3 p.m.

Caribbean Week in New York takes place during Caribbean American Heritage Month as proclaimed by President Barack Obama, to celebrate the sights, sounds, colors, culture and unique vacation attributes of the Caribbean.
