Fleet Week in New York City begins today, Wednesday, May 26th with the largest parade of the year, as dozens of U.S. Navy ships sail up the Hudson River. There are Fleet Week 2010 events every day through Wednesday, June 2nd, including the opportunity to tour the ships and talk with the men and women of the U. S. Navy and U. S. Marine Corps and U. S. Coast Guard who serve on the ships, band concerts, and more. All events are free, except those held at the USS Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum
which means you’ll need to buy tickets to enter the museum. Admission to the Intrepid is free for active and retired military. Most events are in Manhattan, with some in Brooklyn and Staten Island.
You’ll be seeing a lot of men and women in uniform this weekend around The Big Apple. Give them a big smile, tell them you hope they are enjoying themselves, and thank them for serving their country.
