The Hollywood version of news and the newspaper business ranges from screwball comedies to serious films that document real headlines. The entire range — from the craziness of the 1928 “The Front Page” to the insider look at the scandal that brought down the Nixon White House in the 1976 “All the President’s Men” — is being featured in a special retrospective at the Film Forum, through May 6th. Typewriters, carbon paper, shouts of “get me rewrite!” and stars including Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Orson Wells in the iconic “Citizen Kane”, and another personal favorite, Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in the 1934 “It Happened One Night”. No need to get rewrite, since these are all classic, brilliant films. Enjoy a different one every day. The Film Forum is at 209 W. Hudson Street.
