In celebration of its 80th birthday on Jan. 2, 2010, The New Yorker Hotel is offering a special $80 rate for the first night and 20 percent off the best available room rate for the rest of your stay. This discount deal is for January only, based on availability and a two-night minimum stay. The New Yorker is continuing the 20 percent discount offer through March 16, 2010, but without the $80 birthday month rate. Be sure to ask for ”80th Birthday Rate ” when you make your reservation. The hotel recently completed a $70 million dollar renovation, and it sparkles plenty, with free Wi-Fi, free HBO and a real fitness center. And it’s in the absolute heart of midtown Manhattan, at 34th Street and 8th Ave.
When The New Yorker Hotel first opened its doors on Jan. 2, 1930, it was the largest hotel in Manhattan, with 2,500 rooms. You can read more about the hotel’s history in its e-brochure.
